Sun Safety

Sun Safety Tips

 Avoid direct sun during peak hours: 10 AM to 3 PM

 Block both UVA and UVB with the use of broad spectrum sunscreens

 Apply sunscreen 30 minutes before going outside

 Wear sun protective clothing: long sleeved shirt and pants, UV protective sunglasses, and a 4 inch brimmed hat (baseball caps don’t protect the ears)

 Avoid tanning salons

 Protect your children and teach good sun habits

 Do a skin self examination at least every 3 months. If you see any signs of skin cancer, consult your doctor.

 Protect things that “stick out” (nose, ears and lower lip)
